This Pride
This pride
we celebrate
our right to choose
our right to choose how we walk through this world
our right to choose how we dress
our right to choose who we love
our right to choose love
This pride
we mourn
the loss of our right to choose
the loss of our right to choose lifesaving measures for reproductive care
the loss of our right to choose where we can receive care
the loss of our right to choose when that care should occur
This pride
we hold our celebrations and our sorrows in tension
our bodies our choice
our nefesh our choice
For almost fifty years we have relished our right to choose. We have honored women, and all people who can give birth. We have honored life by ensuring that all who are living have a say in how they live, how they love, how they show that love, and when it is right to bring a baby into that love.
So, this pride
As we wholly live into ourselves proudly, we hold space for all who will not be able to honor themselves with their right to choose. We acknowledge the harm and the loss brought on by this decision. We hope for a day when the right to choose is restored. And we fight for choice so that all people may be their most whole selves.
